Building Project Seeks Summer Giving Push

As our impact grows, the HCF has been seeking a new location and found ideal space in the heart of downtown. A partnership with Schnase 1906 District ensures efficiency of shared resources and reduces the financial burden for both organizations. Working together, we’re creating small business and entrepreneurial development, local job creation, philanthropic leadership and a community for creativity, innovation, and growth - all under one roof!

Here are responses to frequently asked questions about the project.

When will construction begin on the new building?

A purchase agreement has been signed for space in the Stein Building (620 W. 2nd St), but it is contingent on securing all funds in advance (gifts or pledges) before we take ownership. With your support, we hope to have all the funds secured by late summer. Your gift or pledge NOW helps us achieve this goal!

How much is the total project budget?

The total campaign is $2.5 million, which includes purchase of space and build-out for both the HCF and Schnase 1906 District (a separate nonprofit focused on entrepreneurship, coworking, and start-ups).

How much has been raised?

With nearly 90 individuals, households and organizations having made a gift, we have already secured more than $1.8 million!

What will you move?

Assuming we can complete fundraising by late summer, the buildout will be completed and ready for occupancy in the first half of 2025.

How can I support this project?

Every gift, regardless of the amount, helps us get closer to our goal! Gifts and pledges (up to three years) are now being accepted. All donors will be recognized on the donor wall. Project information is available at schnase1906district.org. Contact the Hastings Community Foundation to learn more, tour the proposed space, or to make a gift.
