The Hastings Community Foundation is honored when a family asks us to help remember a loved one by establishing a special fund in their memory. Donors make the initial gift and set scholarship criteria. The Hastings Community Foundation works with schools to determine recipient(s) and we manage the distribution and fund management. Scholarships can serve as a tremendous tool to celebrate a legacy or continue a tradition of achievement.

What two former scholarship recipients shared about their award:
“Throughout my four years of high school sports I always worked as hard as possible so my teams could be as great as possible. Along with that, I always tried to bring excellent energy to practices and always lift my teammates up. I knew I was going to be rewarded for that but I thought it was going to be through winning games and after four years it would be over. Never could I have imagined that I would get an extra four years out of that mentality but the Tom Osborne scholarship allowed me to do just that!”
- Alex Swoboda
"I feel honored to have received the Tom Osborne scholarship throughout my four years at Hastings College. Dr. Osborne embodied what it meant to be a student-athlete and leader during his time at Hastings High, Hastings College, and at the University of Nebraska. Having received this scholarship has reminded me of the values that he stood for while as a student in terms of integrity, hard work, and being well rounded. I hope to take those values with me as I continue my education and dream of practicing dentistry and being an advocate for the underserved."
