Since 2016, Quilts of Valor has awarded more than 300 quilts to Adams County Veterans. A recent Community Grant from the Hastings Community Foundation was able to cover the material costs of eight more quilts, awarded in January and February.
“This is a small way we can show them that they are loved and cared for as we present them with a quilt and thank them for their service” said said Sharon Selley, chair of the Community Service project, Quilts of Valor, for the Hastings Quilter's Guild. “We thank the foundation for helping us continue to honor our men and women who make it possible to live in the Land of the Free”.
“Our veterans are a huge portion of the backbone of the Land of the Free. They represent the Home of the Brave,” Selley said. “Many veterans were not thanked when they returned from war. We want the quilt to remind them that there are thousands of women and men across this land that are forever in their debt.”
